Jacqui McDermid

Trustee

Jacqui started off as a parent accessing support from The Dylan Strong Foundation. The charity “Gave us guidance and hope when we needed it most.” supporting Jacqui’s son Harry with nutritious foods helped to keep him strong whilst having treatment and gave the  whole family a sense of control and direction when their world was falling apart. Harry sadly passed away from a brain tumour despite treatment as he had a particularly aggressive form.

Jacqui and Louise Dylan’s mum formed a unique bond, that they both are grateful for, even though it came from such difficult circumstances.

Louise asked Jacqui to become a trustee not long after Harry passed and she accepted with open arms as she knew that helping Louise to build it further would mean more families could benefit from such important and much needed support.

In Jacqui’s words “I am honoured to be part of this wonderful charity that not only has supported me, but many others too. Being part of it gives me purpose and means that the work I do, keeps Harry and Dylan’s legacy going. Knowing that we can make a difference and we can advocate from first hand experience is something very special, Louise is a very special person and Dylan is an inspiration to us all, I feel like I know him through just being part of this charity. I am looking forward to what else we can in this journey of advocating for and supporting families who need it most.”
